John Needham Cox Sr. and Elizabeth Marlow Cox
This charcoal portrait was in the attic of John Needham Jr's house for many years
and was unidentified and later hung on the wall of a popular Tabor City restaurant
for years. When the restaurant closed the owners asked James and Monteene if they
wanted it back, they did, and my father identified it as John Needham Sr and Elizabeth.
The cloth over Elizabeth's face is to cover a 'win' this was common practice in those days when
you had something about your appearance that you did not want to show.
