This page has a couple of pictures of the LST Grant County being unloaded. You can see in the first page an "RT" (Rough Terrain) fork lift backing out the door. In the second picutre an APC (Armored Personell Carrier) is coming out. The APC fits exactally in the LST. When unloading an LST the RT fork lifts looked like they were dancing each driver was totally coordinated with the other drivers they rarely stuck a fork in something the wrong way. One of the pictures on this page is of a hugh stack of paletts of beer. That sight really drew a crowd and it was announced that there would be armed guards on the beer that night.

There were all sorts of strange contraptions coming through here. One this page is a picture of a tank, and "The Thing". I never knew exactally what this thing was supposed to be, apparently a mobile platform for multiple recoilless rifles. I also have a picture of a broken down APC on the sand. It sat on the sand for about a week before it was finally moved. I went past it every day on the way to take the surf observation and finally decided to take it's picture.
